Adventure-touring model landing in America

Just a week after announcing the 450SS sportbike was coming to the U.S., CFMOTO adds another adventure bike to its lineup for 2023. The CFMOTO Ibex 800 S will be available for $9,499, while the slightly more adventure-ready Ibex 800 T trim comes in at $10,499.

The Ibex 800 is powered by a 799cc DOHC Parallel-Twin with a 75° offset crankshaft that is heavily based on KTM’s 790 engine. CFMOTO claims 94 hp at 9,000 rpm and 56.8 lb-ft. at 7,500 rpm.

The Bosch electronic fuel injection system offers two ride modes: Sport and Rain. Cruise control and cornering ABS come as standard, with a 7-inch TFT full color display as the interface. The screen is also Bluetooth enabled, allowing connections to smartphones for navigation.

J.Juan provides the brakes, with dual radial mount four-piston calipers and 320 mm discs up front, and a two-piston floating caliper with 260 mm disc at the rear. KYB supplies an inverted fork and single rear shock.

The Ibex 800 S comes equipped with aluminum alloy wheels, while the Ibex 800 T uses tubeless wire-spoke wheels. Both versions use an 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel. The T model also adds a steering damper tuned for off-road riding, an aluminum skidplate, a center stand, a quickshifter, hand guards, and heated grips and seat. The Ibex 800 T also comes standard with a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

Protection bars, fog lights, luggage mounts, and an adjustable windscreen come standard for both models.

The 2023 Ibex 800 T comes in Twilight Black while the S model comes in either Twilight Black or Nebular Blue.

If I was still interested in adventure touring bikes this would be on my list!

I rode it at Daytona Bikeweek this year. Seems like a great bike. Rides well, plenty of smooth power, comfortable, no bad heat on legs from the engine. Cruise control works instantly. All in all it is a very nice motorcycle. In fact, a friend of mine just recently bought it. He describes it as a Goldwing without the weight, as it is fully loaded. He paid $12,300 out the door from a dealer in Jacksonville Florida. Now he's looking to add luggage. I am considering it as well, but I have to say that I am also looking into a Moto Guzzi 85TT as I like the looks, shaft drive and that Guzzi allure. We'll see.
