2025 BMW R 1300 GS Adventure to Premiere July 5
Long-distance ADV to offer choice of manual or automated shifting
BMW is teasing a new model announcement for July 5, with all the clues indicating it will be for the 2025 R 1300 GS Adventure.
The image above was shared across the company’s social media channels, including YouTube, where the livestream will premiere at 5pm CEST (11 am EST/8 am PST) on July 5, the first day of the 2024 BMW Motorrad Days. The tagline of “The Ultimate Globetrotter”, the hashtag #SpiritOfGS and the distinctive X-shaped headlight introduced on the 2024 R 1300 GS all but guarantee that the new model will be a long-distance Adventure model that we previously reported had already been certified in Switzerland.
As we reported, the R 1300 GS Adventure will share the same Boxer engine as the regular R 1300 GS. Both models will be available with a choice of a traditional six-speed transmission or BMW’s Automated Shift Assistant system (ASA), which allows for automatic shifting without needing a manual clutch lever.
As with previous GS Adventure models, we expect the R 1300 GSA to be heavier than the regular GS, with part of that due to a much larger fuel tank. The new R 1300 GS was designed to be sleeker and sportier than its predecessors, but looking at the image juxtaposition below, it is apparent the Adventure model will be significantly larger.
The angles aren’t exactly the same, but from the front, the R 1300 GS Adventure looks like it has the shoulders of a linebacker compared to the R 1300 GS’ svelte silhouette. Flanking the X-shaped headlight are two additional lights positioned at about where the top of the radiators would be.
Above the main headlight, we spot a much taller windshield with secondary shields below the handlebars. The teaser image also shows protective bars around the outstretched cylinders that look like a different design from the ones equipped on the R 1300 GS.
We’ll have all the details when they are officially released in a week’s time.

That image really looks like the new GSA has gotten wider which isn't really a good thing since the current GSA is pretty wide with the 7.9 gallon gas tank. I hope it's just the picture and the GSA turns out to be a little slimmer than the picture suggests.
