Another Dunlop Tops Isle of Man TT Record Books
Michael Dunlop matches his legendary uncle Joey Dunlop with 26 TT wins
For two weeks, the otherwise tranquil British Crown dependency roars to life with the sound of high-performance engines and the collective adrenaline of thousands of fans. The Isle of Man TT is no ordinary event; this is where legends are born, and none loom larger than the Dunlop family.
This year, Michael Dunlop has matched the win record after taking the first of this week's Supersport TT races. With 26 victories, he now stands shoulder-to-shoulder with his late uncle, Joey Dunlop. Joey set the bar in 2000, just weeks before his untimely demise, and for 24 long years, no one could touch his record–until now.
After his 26th win, Michael confessed the weight of it all. “Obviously, it’s a huge monkey. It’s been on my back for 365 days now and just to be here and to be in the same conversation as Joey is incredible,” he said. With six races left this season, he could still yet leave his indelible mark on the TT.
But Michael didn’t stop there. He broke the superbike average speed lap record, clocking in at a blistering 135.970 miles per hour during the final lap of the RST Superbike race. Yet, in true Isle of Man fashion – an issue with his visor cost him a record-breaking 27th TT win.

Dunlop had a 25 sec lead coming in for the final pit stop of the race. His pit personnel had a difficult time attaching the visor and failed to do so properly. Dunlop had to stop on the course in order to fix it, relegating him to a 4th place win.
RC makes another podium! But seriously, why is Ricky, who has become a Triumph advertisement, up there? I don't see Triumph as a sponsor on the IOMTT website.
