Del Mar and Mulholland to receive new fuses with higher amperage rating

As we were first to report, Harley-Davidson’s electric brand LiveWire is preparing to launch its next model, to be called the S2 Mulholland, with new teasers confirming the model name and a full reveal to come March 21.

Shipments of the Livewire S2 Del Mar should now be underway, and not a moment too soon, as Harley-Davidson’s electric brand needs to start gaining momentum after a very disappointing 2023. While we wait to see how the brand’s second model does, Motorcycle.com can exclusively report that Livewire’s next model will be called the Mulholland, and it will share the S2 platform introduced on the Del Mar.

Claimed output of 84 hp and 194 lb-ft.

Harley-Davidson presented its fourth quarter 2022 financial results, and the results were generally strong, but not without a few hiccups.

LiveWire officially revealed its new S2 Del Mar, the brand’s second electric motorcycle and the first to use its new S2 Arrow architecture. Pre-orders for the Launch Edition model are now open, with an MSRP of $17,699 with deliveries to begin in Spring 2023. A full production run will also begin in 2023, with LiveWire targeting an MSRP of $15,000. (UPDATE: Reservations for all 100 units of the Launch Edition got scooped up within 18 minutes of the pre-order window opening.)

LiveWire announced it will reveal its next electric motorcycle on May 10. Dubbed the S2 Del Mar LE, the new model will be powered by a new modular Arrow EV architecture and slot in under the LiveWire One as a new middleweight-level model.

Harley-Davidson delivered its Q4 2021 earnings report this morning, providing a look at how the first year of its Hardwire plan fared. We’ll have more on that in a separate post (spoiler: H-D did very well), but for now, we’ll focus on one interesting portion of the earnings call: an update on the separate LiveWire brand.

It seems like motorcycle events do best when they climb onto the back of equestrian ones. The horsey set has a lot of nice facilities that don’t require you to drive beyond the Pyramids. Bing Crosby and his buddies started racing ponies at Del Mar, California, in 1937, when Pasadena and Santa Anita grew too hot for their liking. Twenty miles north of San Diego, Del Mar was where the surf really did meet the turf.
