As we dug deeper, we discovered more information that not only confirms an MT-09 with Y-AMT is on the way, but also that it was originally supposed to be announced as a 2024 model and is now likely delayed for 2025. Here’s what we’ve discovered so far.

BMW is teasing a new model announcement for July 5, with all the clues indicating it will be for the 2025 R 1300 GS Adventure.

Ducati announced a new DesertX variant that comes standard with a number of accessories to make it more adventure-ready. With an MSRP of $19,995, the 2025 Ducati DesertX Discovery offers a middle-ground between the $17,995 baseline DesertX and the more hardcore $22,995 DesertX Rally.

Yamaha announced a new automatic transmission system, joining the list of manufacturers introducing some form of electronic gear shifting technology following Honda, BMW, and KTM. The Yamaha Automated Manual Transmission (Y-AMT) system allows for quick shifting without the need for a manual clutch lever, with Yamaha claiming more consistently faster and precise shifting than the latest quickshifters currently available.

The World Supersport 300 championship is on its penultimate lap, with the entry-level racing series set to end following the 2025 racing season. According to an announcement from the Superbike Commission which sets the regulations for production-based racing, the 300 class will be replaced by a new entry-level series for 2026 and beyond.

American Honda is preparing to add a new member to its Minimoto lineup in the funky Dax125. Also known as the ST125, the Dax has been available in Europe since 2023, but will finally be coming to the U.S. for 2025.

Last October, Triumph reached out to the public for help in tracking down a number of motorcycles Elvis Presley reportedly bought for his “Memphis Mafia” crew. This March, Triumph partnered with the Elvis Presley Charitable Foundation and Gibson Guitars to auction a one-off Bonneville T120 and matching Les Paul. It now appears Triumph will continue its association with The King with a Bonneville T120 Elvis Edition model for 2025.

After being absent from the 2024 offerings, the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP is poised to return to American Honda’s lineup for 2025 with the updates introduced at EICMA.

Last November, at EICMA, Honda became the first motorcycle maker to bring to market an electronic clutch. Debuting as an option on the CBR650R and CB650R, Honda’s E-Clutch combined elements of its Dual Clutch Transmission technology with quickshifters to allow for up and down shifting with without needing to use a clutch lever, but otherwise using a regular gearbox and foot shifter.

KTM debuted a new prototype with an automatic transmission at last weekend’s Red Bull Erzbergrodeo. KTM calls the prototype the AMT, but we suspect it will eventually become a new 1390 Super Adventure.
