Evans warned us this wasn’t a good idea. Having just ridden the Ducati Diavel V4 at its press intro, he knew right away a Triumph Rocket 3 had no business being lined up next to it. Naturally, he shot the idea down when Ryan and I proposed it originally. We moved on to other things, but we couldn’t shake the thought of putting the two bikes together someday. Well, that day has finally come. The Rocket 3, with its gargantuan engine, and the Diavel V4 – the love child of a Panigale and a cruiser – have come and gone through the Motorcycle.com gauntlet. Ducati announced the end of the line for its middleweight supersport with the introduction of the Panigale V2 Superquadro Final Edition. The full press release will be included at the bottom of this post, and we’ll summarize the highlights as well, but the announcement does raise a big question: Is this the last time we’ll see a V-Twin power a Ducati sportbike? Judging by the wording of the press release, the answer very well could be yes. But more on that in a minute.

Updates to the engine and chassis confirmed

Ducati announced a new DesertX variant that comes standard with a number of accessories to make it more adventure-ready. With an MSRP of $19,995, the 2025 Ducati DesertX Discovery offers a middle-ground between the $17,995 baseline DesertX and the more hardcore $22,995 DesertX Rally.

Eight-time World Champion Marc Marquez is set to join Francesco Bagnaia in the factory Ducati squad for the next two MotoGP seasons.
