Updates Expected for 2025 Triumph Speed Twin 1200
Speed Twin 1200 conspicuously absent from the 2025 model announcement
Triumph announced several 2025 models returning with new colors this morning. Apart from the new paint options, the returning models are mechanically identical to the 2024 models. The announcement didn’t include all of Triumph’s models however, so we expect there is more news to come. It remains to be seen if any of these other motorcycles will receive any changes, but one model in particular appears poised for a substantial update for 2025: the Speed Twin 1200.
The big giveaway is that the Speed Twin 1200 is the only 900cc or 1,200cc member of Triumph’s Modern Classic family that has not yet been announced for 2025. The 900cc Scrambler 900, Bonneville T100, and Speed Twin 900 were all included in today’s announcement, as were the 1,200cc Speedmaster, T120, and Bobber.
Meanwhile, Triumph previously announced the end of production for the Thruxton RS with a Final Edition model for 2025. This is relevant, because the Speed Twin 1200 and the Thruxton RS share a similar High Power version of the 1,200cc Parallel Twin Bonneville engine, with the same emissions certification. The Speedmaster, Bobber and Bonneville T120 all use the High Torque version of the engine, and are certified separately. The Scrambler 1200 models are also certified separately, and they already received an update for 2024.
What this means is that there’s suddenly a Speed Twin 1200-shaped hole in Triumph’s 2025 lineup, one we expect to be filled with an updated model. The new Speed Twin 1200 will likely get some of the updates given to the Scrambler 1200 X and XE: a new throttle body and revised exhaust headers. An updated 2025 Speed Twin 1200 would also open the door for the inevitable return of the Thruxton in 2026.

My Speed Twin lacked a taller 6th gear, revving way higher than necessary on the freeway. Otherwise it was a perfect and fun bike!
